Ottawa Valley Land Rovers, Inc. is the oldest and largest Land Rover club in Canada. In 1982 OVLR was originally conceived as a local chapter of the Association of Land Rover Owners of Canada (ALROC). It has since evolved into the club it is today where membership is around 120 local and international members. Three quarters of the membership reside in the Ottawa Valley. The remainder mostly live in the United States. Membership is open to all Land Rover enthusiasts and is mandatory for participation in any club activity.
OVLR offers the only monthly North American Land Rover Club newsletter and a variety of activities throughout the year, from mechanical seminars and off-road rallies to social events and family oriented outings. Off-road activities come in several categories. The light version, which is usually entertainment during a rally or at one of our family summer events, consists of a little "mud bogging" or tours along country lanes. The heavy stuff, which is usually several days across public lands navigating by compass, topographical maps and aerial photographs, involves bridge building, river fording, and driving conditions ranging from cedar swamp to rocky hill winching. Throughout the year small groups of club members get together for more informal off road outings as well as helping each other with technical assistance for those rare moments when their Land Rover might not be the best 4X4XFar.
